990 vs RX-V2400 - 09/21/06 01:22 AM

Looking to replace my yammi 2400(mabey) still sounds good, just pondering if the 990/7125 combo would give more punch, im 50/50 on music and h.t., my mains are paradigms 60's and my center is a Def Tech 2300, sunfire jr sub.
Thanx in advance for the help!

Any time you move to separate amplification, you're likely to see a nice improvement both on movies and on music - and since I also own Paradigm Studio 60's I can attest to how much they like the extra power that an amp like the 7125 can provide. There have also been some folks who used Yamaha receivers similar to your 2400 as pre-amps and reported that the 990 offered a definite sonic improvement, so I'd say you could find a very the 990/7125 combo to be a nice upgrade.

I went from a 2500 to a 990/7500, and its the best move I ever did for my HT. If you are 50/50 movies and music now, you might end up 80/20. The 990 got me back to appreciating music again.

billy is right.
My interest is SOUND.
I have 990/7700 in one room and the amp is amazingly clean. Likewise the pre/pro. You won't be sorry with outlaw eqpt
