I have just completed connecting the 990 but cannot activate the menu. I have the satelite direct HMDI to the 990 via the PDH. Optical sound. DVD is DVI to 990. DVI to HMDI out put from the 990 to my DLP.I know I need an S cable to view the OSD but distance iscurrently a problem but I should be able to do the set up via thw 990 screen but can't seem to access the menu. Suggestions?

The 990's DVI output is purely switching - it will not pass any menu information. Can you grab a spare TV to hook up to the composite menu output for access to the menu?

Product #313171 at CompUSSR. It's a B&W 5" TV with a composite input. Runs off of batteries or DC.
$12.99

I use it for my 990 since I have a projector and don't want to turn it on just to see the menu.

Understand but shouldn't the 990 screen show the menu? Also I've gone wrong somewhere as there is no sound or picture and I hope that is a function of not doing the set up but I tried a CD and no sound. Optical form sat box to 990as is DVD and Cd. DVI to DVI from DVD to 990. HMDI from Satbox to 990 and out put from 990 to DLP TV HMDI/DVI.Balanced cables from 990 to 7500. Five Orb speakers to the 7500 all match and correct polarization. Somethings wrong.

You can't configure without using the OSD.

The front panel display does not show the menu - you need the on-screen display to assign digital inputs to your different sources, set bass management, and all the other good stuff.
