balanced outputs - 01/14/17 07:46 PM

Hi. Does anyone know if the 990's balanced out are at +4db, or -10db?

I know that balanced outs are generally +4, but to my understanding that may not always be the case.

So if anyone knows if balanced outs are always +4db, or if not, if the 990 outputs are +4db or -10db, It would be great to get a definite answer.

I appreciate any help i can get.

It won't quite break down that easy for consumer gear, like the Model 990 or even our Model 975. If you are feeding a recording interface, the appropriate setting would be +4dBu. -10dBV would only be expecting some where around 300 - 320mV - wouldn't surprise me if the Model 990 overloaded that input stage as it is capable of outputting over 1V.

Thanks for the help!

I recently got a Behringer Inuke1000DSP amplifier to power my subwoofer, and I was worried the output from the 990 wouldn't be powerful enough. After setting it up, it works great. Holy crap the Inuke is a big step up from the old 300 watt plate amp I was using before.

Thanks again.

I feed my 990 L-R outputs to a pro digital crossover which has its 0 dBfs point at +22 dBu. The 990 is able to clip the crossover, so the outputs have great headroom (the spec is 9Vrms max). There won't be issues with *any* downstream components.
