Trigger wire - can stereo mini work?

Trigger wire - can stereo mini work? - 03/27/02 10:42 AM

I went over the 755 manual and noted that it specifies that the trigger wire should be a mono 3.5mm mini plug wire. I have a bag of wires that include several stereo 3.5mm mini plugs. Can the stereo wire I have be used just as well as the mono? It's not a big deal but if I don't have to go out and buy yet another wire that would be great.

Thanks.

I haven't tried it, but from what I understand of the mono and stereo forms of the mini plug, the only difference is that the stereo adds a conductor (and a second ring contact). The stereo should work as well as the mono for the trigger. An e-mail to the Outlaws could confirm this absolutely (or someone else around here may have tried it and confirmed that it works), but my thought is that it should work fine.

Both stereo and mono miniplugs work fine. I'm actually controlling two items from my 950 via a miniplug y-adapter and one uses a mono mini and the other uses a stereo mini (what I had lying around) with absolutely no problem.

As long as the voltage gets through it works and stereo/mono makes no difference.
