6 channel bypass - 09/18/03 07:57 PM

I just purchased the Pioneer 563 universal DVD player primarily to checkout the 950's 6 channel mode. The sound is excellent and really opened up my DVD audio CDs that I had been listening to with an older DVD player. However, the 950 is doing something strange and I belieeve I have seen this question before but could not find it. When I switch from FM stereo to 6 channel I get no surround channels. I have the DVD set right and the disc set to surround. Is the 950 in a state of confusion because I have gotten the surrounds when playing the same disc before?

One of the small bugs of the 950.

If you switch to the 6 ch input from another input where you were in 2 ch mode, you only get 2 channels from the 6 ch input. The work-around, is to switch to something DPL II or 5 ch stereo mode or something, *then* switch to the 6 ch input. Then you get all the channels.
