DC Trigger Help

DC Trigger Help - 07/25/03 10:34 AM

Could someone explain how to use the DC trigger on the 950? I would like to switch my Rotel amp on when I cut the 950 on. My Rotel does not have a connector for the trigger.

How can I do this???

Thanks for any help

Does your Rotel amp have any sort of trigger? Some amps don't use the same plug as the 950 (some Parasounds do it differently, although the current Rotels appear to be using the same thing as the 950 does). If it has a trigger of some sort, it may be possible to create a custom cable to connect the two. If there is no trigger at all, the only way to trigger the amp with the 950 is with something attached to the Rotel's power cord. In my system, I use a Panamax MAX5100 as surge protection and switching (and some power conditioning) -- it has two high-current switched outlets for amps, which my Outlaw 750 and Parasound HCA-800 (which has no trigger at all) are connected to.

gonk - I have an older Rotel that does not have a trigger.

Did you just use a mono 3.35mm plug for both ends?

Thanks

Yep, I use a cable with mono 3.5mm plugs at each end to connect the 950 and the MAX5100 -- the Panamax has a 3.5mm trigger input just like the trigger inputs on amps like the Outlaw amps & current Rotels and the trigger output on the 950.

Thanks gonk for the info on the MAX5100. That looks like what I need. The price is also better than the other line conditioners that I have look at.

Looks like they make a model 3400 that is slightly less, but also has the DC Trigger.

Thanks
