LP Racks? - 09/01/08 07:49 PM

Looking for a good solution for around 600-700 (and growing) LPs. I like the stuff from Boltz and Billy Bags but was hoping I could come up with something a bit more affordable. Any Outlawinspiration? Thanks!

My father-in-law has an LP collection that runs upward of 2,000 or more, and he's started using bookcases. My wife's childhood bedroom is now a music library with three or four nice matching bookcases full of LP's.

I have a similar size collection, and I found an inexpensive way to store them using pine storage shelves from a local store that sells unfinished furniture:

I have three of these units, each one holds 210-220 LPs, at a cost of $51 each, although I think they were on sale for $40 each when I bought them.

Simply stain them in your favorite shade, or leave them unfinished. They're sturdy, inexpensive, look pretty good, and you can add as many units as needed.

The Ikea Expedit works great for me:

Each of the "boxes" holds 60 - 70 single lps and they can accomodate all but the biggest of box sets.

In the "old days" we used Peach (from Peaches records) crates and they could be built for about a dollar. the WAF was pretty low though.
