Single LFM1 or 2 LFM2's

Would it be better to purchase 1 lfm1 or 2 lfm2's. The room size is approx 15 x 30.

I don't have either one, but plan on buying a LFM-1 with a 990/7125 combo.
From what I read here, having 1 or 2 LFM-1 is better than having 1 or 2 LFM-2.
Also, two subs are harderd to balance in the room than just one, even though Outlaw says that they recomend 2 subs.

So what is the point of 2 sub outputs?
To sell you more equipment?
My existing speakers are 3 way and I really don't need a lot of overpowering bass, but I thought 2 smaller would spread the spectrum.
I am also looking at the 990, but pairing it with the 7500 or something from earthquake.

Two sub outputs are a convenient way to connect two subs - rather than using the splitter that would otherwise be required. There are a lot of people running two subs, and the second sub output is handy for them. Two subs are useful for achieving higher SPL's (especially in larger spaces) and smoothing out room nulls. I've always just run one sub. Space limitations would start to creep in on me if I tried to add a second, not to mention the fact that my wife would probably prefer not to add any more boxes to the room. Since I haven't ever heard the LFM-2, I can't say how well a pair of them would compare to a lone LFM-1. I can say that I've been very pleased with my single LFM-1 in my 17'x23'x8' space.

So do you think that by running 2 subs I would be ok with the 990 since it has seperate outputs?
Would it spread the bass out?
How are subs rated as far as watts?
ie the lfm2 at 150 up to 800, what dictates this , the volume level?

Running two subs with the 990 would not be a problem at all. I'm not entirely sure about spreading the bass out - one premise integral to the concept of the subwoofer is that very low frequencies are fairly non-directional (can't be pinpointed as coming from the single source), but you would be more likely to get a flat frequency response by using two subs. Either approach (one sub or two) works best with some care put into the placement of the sub(s).

Both subs' power ratings are based on the amps provided with them. The LFM-2's amp is rated for 150W RMS with the ability to provide up to 800W for brief peaks. The LFM-1's amp is rated for 325W RMS with up to 1300W for brief peaks - necessary because of the larger driver in the LFM-1. As for how much power is actually output at any given time, it is of course going to be dependent on the source material (how much low frequency material is present and how loud it is), system setup (where the sub amp's gain is set and where the processor's sub trim is set), and the volume.

So if I'm understanding you correctly, I really wouldn't gain anything by running 2 lfm2's and it would be better to have the single lfm1.

Like I said, I haven't heard the LFM-2 to know how it stacks up. I don't think you'll lose anything with the single LFM-1, though.

My room is 15 X 25..and I run 2 LFM-1's and a Def Tech PF15TL.
This does a good job on the bottom end.
I like solid controlled bass..that is why I kind of went overkill. I personally think it it better to have too much and turn it down...then over drive to get the results I want.
