Just wondering if anyone has tried plugging a port. If so did you notice any difference?

i can't speak about the lfm but i can about my monitor audio asw-210(no longer powered, now passive(powered by marantz ma-500)). it's 2 10's,1 down,1 forward,2 3" ports(forward).i plugged one(where is soundhound anyway) and oh baby!this thing gets down and dirty.wicked like!BUT, running a 15hz-20hz slow sweep,MAJOR PORT NOISE.but how often do you get those freqencies in program material?RARELY if at all.to get that amount of noise i'm pushing 120+db@3 feet.i can't hear port noise from my listening position.
click on 'blade' below and there's a pic. smile

if you do try it,make sure the plug fits or the noise could be nasty.

I guess what I'm worried about is doing damage to the amp. Maybe I should just sell the sub and go the HSU turbo route. Just wish this thing would hit alittle lower.

How much lower do you think you can go? You may have another issue besides just the brand of subwoofer if you're feeling like you're missing bass. Have you tried repositioning the sub? Where is your crossover set at? How big is your room? How low do you think your sub should go?

Try answering those questions before investing in new equipment. The bass may be there already but other factors are preventing you from hearing it. A little experimentation may produce some great results.

Crossover is set at 80 with towers set at small. Room is small only 12x18 with a 3ft. opening. I was hoping to hit around 20hz when plugging. I only have sub volume set to four so plenty of room yet. I can only place the sub in two positions. Tried both places sounds the same. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining just want more(lol). I don't have anything to check it with just a SPL meter. Just wondering if I plugged a port would it go lower and if so how much.

There has been some discussion of port plugging in the past, and there is some feedback from Hsu regarding the STF-3 (a very similar design to the LFM-1) at the end of the thread, but I haven't heard anything official from Outlaw.

Thanks Gonk, so has anybody tried this? Would plugging one port void our warranty? Sounds like the Dr. thinks it's ok. The STF-3 is basicly the same sub.
