Phrase Setting

Phrase Setting - 09/24/04 04:06 PM

How to best determine the phrase setting of the subwoofer? I calibrated my subwoofer with a SPL meter and AVIA's DVD. I bypassed LFM's crossover and used the processor's instead. I set my crossover to 80Hz. However, when switching the phrase setting from 0 to 180, I notice a very small difference in SPL. And can't really tell which setting sounds better.

So I am wondering how to determine which is the better/correct setting for my setup.

Thanks for your input.

William

I have read where the correct "Phase" setting is the one which gives you higher output. Switching back and forth while using a meter should tell you which setting is "prefered"....you be the judge!

Use the setting that gives the highest SPL at the listening position at the crossover frequency.
