LFM 1 short

LFM 1 short - 12/24/11 04:46 PM

I unpacked my 2 LFM 1's today after renovations to our home. One of them works fine the other blows its fuse (3 times) as soon as it is powered up. Any suggestions for tracking down the short before sending it back to Outlaw?

Thanks

Is it under warranty? If so just send it back so you don't violate that. If not under warranty a careful dissassembly might reveal the problem. Make sure none of the connections on the rear are shorted. I would start by taking the woofer out and looking at the wiring. Then I would remove the amp.

Unfortunatly they are out of warranty. I will pull the back plate our and look for any sign of the magic smoke being let out. Outlaw is closed today but I'll call them after my inspection to see about sending it to someone for repair if it is cost effective.

Its not like one LFM-1 won't handle low end for a while.

After speaking with Scott I pulled out the plate amp and returned it to Outlaw. There was a problem with the power supply circuitry. $75 plus shipping and life is good.

Everyone at Outlaw was great to deal with. Good customer service is a pleasure to experience. It's sad that it so seldom happens these days.
