1050 DAC?? - 11/06/01 05:30 PM

I was just curious if anybody has details on the DAC in the 1050?

Has anybody compared it to higher end external DACs?

I was recently looking at the Dan Wright Modifed P-3A and was curious how the DAC in the 1050 compares.

Thanks.

I have both the 1050 and the Perpetual Tech Dan Wright modified P3A DAC which costs almost 3 times the price of the Outlaw (I also have the P1A - the combo is about 5 times the price). They are an improvement but the 1050 compares very favorably. Both the 1050 and PT DACs are vastly superior to the DACs in my Sony changers (I therefore use optical out. The PT units, of course, also have some other features such as jittter reduction, speaker and room correction capabilities. But the bottom line is that the DAC in the 1050 is very good.

Thank you SoundDog!
I too use Sony Changers and find their DACs to be inferior.

I am VERY happy with what I am hearing from the Outlaw. Its DAC is clearly better than anything else I have.

At $1100 the Dan Wright mod P-3A is out of my grasp right now. Especially with my speakers. To see the full benefit I would need to replace the old Advents...

Thanks again...
