M200 for M&K speakers - 07/22/05 10:50 AM

Although, I have been lurking on this site for quite a while, this is my first post. I am debating whether or not I would hear any improvment if I got some M200s. I currently have M&K 750 speakers (LCR) and M&K suround55-Tripoles (surrounds) powered by a Denon 3300 Amp (105W per channel). I am fairly satisfied with the sound, but the idea of mono blocks intrigues me. My main concern about the M200s is that they would be overkill for my speakers. Does any one have any experience running the M&Ks with M200s. The M200s are rated at 200W(8ohm) and 300W(4ohm) and my speakers are rated for a maximum of 200W(4ohm). I was thinking about starting with 2 or 3 M200s to power the fronts and center and continue to use the Denon for the surrounds for now. Eventually, I think I would get monoblocks all around, but again I am worried that this would be overkill?

Any help would be appretiated.

a better amp is a better amp regardless of how loud it can push your speakers. just because the amp is more powerful than what your speakers can handle, doesnt mean you have to try to blow them. i dont know many people who listen to their amps wide open.

A very detailed and comprehensive response, Wayne. To your point, I've never blown a speaker without blowing the amp as well.

M200's made a difference by improving the quality of sound on my system. I think you will be pleased with what you will hear as well.
