Have any M200 users upgraded the power cord. Was there a difference compared to stock cord? If so what cord are you using.

If you've never upgraded a power cord before, I'd read this first for a counterpoint [thank trikos for the link].

If you want to do a basic test, find the cheapest replacement cord you can find, like a 99 cent item at Big Lots or the like. Then switch it out with the Stock Outlaw cord and see if you can tell a difference - if so, you can probably discern a benefit from an upgrade. My opinion, and I reiterate that it's opinion laugh , is that the transformer quality makes the only difference in the power circuit, and no $100 or more power cord upgrade ever made a difference to my ears.

I have been experimenting with the power cord upgrades as well, and I must say, if I don't know which cord is being used when I am listening, then I cannot hear any difference.

If I do know which cord is being used, then my mind tries very hard to hear a difference and sometimes I think that I do hear one.

It is extremely psychological, perhaps purely so.

The M200's come with good, heavy gauge power cords. I would be hard pressed to be convinced to spend money to upgrade those cords. As has been said here in the saloon before, the upgrade only helps for the short distance from outlet to amp power supply - it does nothing for the many feet of wire in the wall or the tens or hundreds of miles of wire between the power plant and the house.

Folks: don't be taken in by a bunch of power cord crap. The 15 or 20 amp circuits in your house are either # 14 for the 15 amp or #12 for the 20 amp. Probably "builders quality," no better. Making your power cords any better than this simply does NOT make any sense.

Sort of sounds like some of the Bozos talking about all of their expensive speaker wire. I thought that someone on another board was pulling my leg about a set of speaker wires costing $2600. Well, he wasn't. Imagine that?

You apparently haven't seen MIT's Oracle 2.1s - $9K per pair. Pick em up cheap on ebay for onlly $8K if you're lucky wink

It's amazing what can be done with 6 foot of OFC these days!

sluggo: LOL! I'm just a little wiser now.

All I can say about $9k for a pair of speaker wires is "there is a fool born every day!"

I really don't know how the manufacturers get away with some of those claims. There are laws about false claims. Oh, well!
