RR2150 Still Relevant???... - 01/19/21 12:32 AM

...if you saw one at a decent price would you still purchase or would you wait for an RR2160 or something else entirely???

I find myself possibly in need of a new(er) receiver and am considering my options...used RR2150s seem to be quite a bit less than a used RR2160s and then there is the newest RR2160 ll...

any thoughts on if the RR2150 is still a worthy buy at this stage of the game or should I save my pennies for the RR2160 or even the RR2160 ll?

any help you care to share would be appreciated

I think it would depend on what you plan to run with it. If you are not using anything more than a turntable, CD/DVD Player with analog outs, one other analog device and a recording unit, then an RR2150 in good shape will work fine. If you need just one digital input, other than the rather odd USB connector, then it is not really going to work for you.

A/V equipment lasts a long time, so I tend to look at the cost as more of an investment than an expense. I still have a Technics SA-300 that I bought in 1979, and it is still going. The thing that drives purchases now tends to be new requirements on the video end of things.

thanks for your response...yes, mostly phono, CD and radio...I would have liked at least one digital input but I don't think that one extra is worth the move for me to the RR2160 from an RR2150...

I have a Nakamichi TA-2A that has been acting up a bit but I've had it more than 30 years and it may be better worth my dime to find someone trustworthy and talented enough (not me wink ) to give it a going over...

...well it would appear that my solution is a near mint Nakamichi TA-3A High Definition Tuner Amp with Nelson Pass STASIS...
