Input Type Display - 05/15/10 03:46 PM

I just updated my system, replacing a 32" CRT with a 42" plasma. I ran into the remote IR interference issue, and by doing a search on this forum realized I needed to move the 950 further away from the TV.

However, I am having another issue with the 950 that I do not understand. It is not displaying anything other than 3/2.1 after INPUT TYPE for digital input sources. It does seem as though it is properly doing Dolby D 5.1 and DTS 5.1 with both DVD's (coaxial) and the TV QAM tuner (optical). Why does it not show 5.1 anymore when I press the "Dolby" button on the remote? I like to know what kind of signal the 950 is putting out.

The 950 should have always identified DD and DTS 5.1 sources as 3/2.1 - the first number is the number of front channels ("2" for left/right, "3" for left/right/center, or "1" for a mono center), the second number is surrounds ("0" for no surrounds or "2" for stereo surrounds), and the third number is the LFE channel ("1" for a LFE channel and "0" for no sub). If you are seeing 3/2.1 then the 950 is receiving and decoding a 5.1 source.
