Now I'm losing dialog?

Now I'm losing dialog? - 09/30/06 09:44 PM

This morning I was listening to the radio in PLII mode. I noticed things sounded really weird, and I could hear the music clearly but speech was almost inaudible. I thought the signal was bad.

This afternoon I was listening to MP3s served from my PC via coax. Things sounded very strange again. I poked around at the cables, toggled the main power switch, but things remained the same.

Now, I'm watching Final Fantasy VII (VERY cool, btw) and it's in DD EX. I was listening in DD EX+CR, and the dialog is almost completely gone. Everything else is crisp and clean, but the dialog is non-existant. I shut off the CR, and the dialog is still gone.

I went back to STEREO, and the dialog returned. I'm listening to it now, in fact.

Any ideas? My theory is it's a hint to upgrade to the 990 wink

Check on the cables again, particularly the center channel pre-amp output and center channel speaker cables. It sounds suspiciously like the center's gone MIA. You might also run through the internal test tones.

I'm not running a center channel. Hey wait, I wonder if the Outlaw thinks I am? GAH! There it is.

Ok, now how could the setting have gotten changed without my going in and touching it? I haven't been in the Outlaw's config menu in months.

Thanks, gonk!

Never mind. I just remembered, we had a blackout the other day. Must have reset the settings in the Outlaw.

Thanks again,
