About to use the video switching for the first time - 10/28/05 07:28 PM

Okay, I've never used my 950 for anything but audio. Next month I'm going to add a front projector, and given the fact that one 25' cable run is better than two or three, I'd like to use the component video inputs/outputs.

Can someone give me an "idiot's guide" type of explanation as to what I need to do here? Basically I will have my HD cable box and Denon 2900 DVD as inputs, with the only output going to the projector. I think I know how to hook up the cables, but how do I "switch" between the Denon and the Cable box? I don't see anything on the front of the 950 pertaining to video switching....Do I just use the "source" arrows like when I choose the audio source?

Thanks!

The video sources are tied to the audio sources - one component input is "DVD" (for the 2900) and one component input is "Video1" (which is labeled "SAT" on the remote and is what you'll want to connect the cable box to). You've probably got the cable box on the Video 3 input right now, since it's the one labeled "CBL" on the remote (that's where I had mine hooked up).

What Gonk said, plus I actually have my HD cable box connected to both the Video 3(cable) with S-video and analog audio in addition to the component video and digital coax audio on the Video 1(sat)input. This gives me some flexibility in choosing signal formats depending on the program material, etc.
