On screen display with HD?

On screen display with HD? - 07/01/05 04:45 PM

Am I missing something when it comes to my OSD with HD?

I'm running component in for my HD cable and DVD player, but, it seems that I've lost the on screen display.

Am I missing something?

The component video switching on the Model 950 does not include OSD information. This was done because it was extremely difficult to overlay information onto a component video signal without screwing up the video quality. (Even today, nearly all component video switching schemes that allow on-screen menus with component inputs do it by replacing the input with a blank screen behind the menu). To get access to the on-screen menu, use the s-video or composite video monitor output.

Interesting information... Thanks for that, but, there is no point in using the composite or s-video, as the video quality isn't nearly as good as component.

Thanks for the help.

smile Very true for actual viewing, but not for general menu navigating.

What gonk said wink My TV has 7 inputs, so I just dedicated one to my 950's OSD. If you've got a fancy remote you could even program a macro to pop your TV into the right input and the Outlaw into menu mode.
