950 Remote - 09/09/04 02:10 PM

How do you scroll through the different surround modes with the remote? I have looked and looked, but can't find it. Is this even possible? If it's easy I'll sure feel stupid.

What do some of those circle buttons at the bottom do?

EDIT: Check out page 21, item 10 of the manual. Basically, keep pressing the Dolby Digital button to cycle through all the Dolby Digital formats.

JT,

Yes, now I feel kind of stupid, however say I'm playing a CD and my 950 is set to stereo if I push the buttons nothing happens. If the input is selected, but I'm not playing anything then when I push the button the surround mode changes. So, I guess what I am trying to say is I don't seem to be able to change surround modes on the fly. Does this sound correct?

Re: 950 Remote - 09/10/04 02:10 PM

A CD source is a PCM signal, and as such can't be processed by a Dolby Digital decoder. As a result, the 950 will ignore requests to enable DD processing. Likewise, the DTS buttons will not always work (although the DTS:NEO6 mode can be enabled with many sources, including PCM and Dolby 2.0). If you're listening to a CD, you are limited to stereo, 5/7 stereo, Pro Logic II, and DTS:NEO6.

EDIT: I had a random thought that you may have already realized - the surround mode buttons only control the 950's modes when the remote is in the "AUD" mode. Unlike the volume control, there is no way to "punch through" these commands so they control the 950 from every device mode on the remote.
