DVD vs 950 Speaker Distance Settings

DVD vs 950 Speaker Distance Settings - 08/31/04 04:05 PM

I have a Pioneer 563a and in its setup there is a place to specify speaker distances. There is the same setting in the 950. I currently have both devices set the same. Is this necessary? Or is it redundent?

Thanks

The 563 only uses the speaker distances for the six channel analog output. I'm not sure if it applies to DVD-Audio and SACD as well, but it may. Unfortunately, I can't remember if the 950's delay settings apply to the six-channel analog input as well as the digital sources or not - I think it does, in which case it would be best to set the 563's distances to zero, but I could be remembering incorrectly.

I thought the 950's distance settings only applied to the digital side. So setting both the 563 and the 950 would be fine. the 563 would apply the settings to the 6-channel analog stuff and the 950 to the digital stuff. That's how I have my 45a and 950 set. I sure hope I don't have it set wrong. Can someone verify this?

Sure, the distance settings on the 950 apply to everything accept the by-pass (stereo and multi-channel) inputs.

Thanks, Scott - I knew it had been discussed before but couldn't for the life of me remember if it was handled in the analog or digital domain.
