950 and mono sources - 08/31/04 03:45 PM
I noticed last night that the 950 handles mono sources differently depending on the surround mode picked. I have my tv set to aux 2 on my 950 and say I've selected Prologic-C or M and the tv station is mono the Music mode will produce 5.1, but the the C will only put the sound through the center speaker. The same is for the other M and C options.
So, is it me or something else?
Thanks

Pro Logic II C (or Cinema) is intended for movie and TV sources, in which case I would not be surprised if it steered a mono signal to the center only - that's the best way to anchor dialog on screen. Pro Logic II M (or Music) is intended for producing 5.1 audio from music, and in that case there would be no need to anchor dialog and a mono signal could be broken out farther.

For what it's worth....
My favorite way to play mono material is in Stereo 5 mode with the surround speakers turned off. That way you get a nice duplication of the mono content across the front three speakers.

Thanks guys!
Glad to know that everything is OK.
I guess I need to experiment to see what I like the best.
