6 channel bypass problems

6 channel bypass problems - 06/24/04 07:58 PM

I just purchased a Pioneer DV-578A-s DVD player in the hope of listening to SACD disks. But to my grim disappointment, I only hear audio from the right and sub-woofer channels. I did a quick test of reversing the main right and left connections on the back of the 950 but the audio still only played through the right channel & sub. While I could never hear anything from the left channel, I did notice a lower volume coming from the sub-woofer which would indicate to me that the signal is fine to the point that the channel is combined for the sub output. I also tried switching between sources as suggested from other users but the problem continues. Anyone have any suggestions or am I stuck having to send it in for repairs. As this is the first time I used the 6 channel analog inputs, I figure that it never worked.

Have you turned on the 6-channel bypass on the 950 by selecting the button on the remote? Also have you set up the player to output to the 6-channel audio out. I have the Pioneer dv-653A and you have to set up, in the main menu, the output to the proper channels as well as set trims, etc. Once set up it really does sound great.
