Anyone passing High Def through the 950

Anyone passing High Def through the 950 - 05/07/04 08:39 AM

Hello again, as I further analyze my preamp upgrade I was wondering about the component video coonections being rated at 45MHz. It seems that all of the newer processors and recievers have component video that pass at 100 MHz. My question is does this make any noticable difference in video quality? Is anyone out there passing a high def signal through their 950?

I'm not yet, but I may be soon, and I'm pretty sure there are some others around here somewhere who are already doing it and have been for some time. From what I understand, 45MHz is sufficient for passing 720p and 1080i HD signals without degradation. Here's an excerpt from RAF's 950 review, including some info from an old Outlaw newsletter on the subject.

It's not an issue. I'm passing both 720p and 1080i. No difference picture quality passing through 950 - or going direct.

It will be an issue if you pass 1080p whenever we see that.

Probably by the time 1080p is a reality you will only be able to get it through an encrypted HDMI connection.
