950 with ATI1505 remote on?

950 with ATI1505 remote on? - 04/20/04 04:17 PM

I was wondering if anyone else out there is running an ATI 1505 amplifier and has successfully gotten the 950 DC trigger to work with the ATI1505?

I know ATI is OEM for Outlaw Audio and the 1505 is probably very similar to the Outlaw 950 which is discontinued. The issue is that the ATI uses a DB25 connection for remote on (pin 11 & 23) and a high current relay. I don't know whether the 950's DC trigger (100mA) is sufficient and would really apreciate some feedback.

I just recieved my 950 last week and replaced my outdated Acurus ACT-3. My system has never sounded sweeter....

My System:
Denon 2800 DVD
Outlaw Audio 950 Pre/Pro
ATI 1505 Amplifier
Mitsubishi 55 HDTV
PSB Status Silver i's (Mains)
PSB Stratus C6 (Center)
PSB Image 10 S (Surrounds)
REL Acoustics Strata Sub

Thanks in advance!

After owning an Acurus ACT-3, you must have felt very comfortable when you took the 950's remote control out of the box.

I too have the exact same combo of the 950 and the ATI 1505. I'd sure like to know the answer to this too!

That is very true, I take it your are an ex ACT 3 guy? If so, what are your impressions of the 950 versus the Act-3?

Not a bad set up, eh? I will be testing it this weekend to see if I can get it to work. I will let you know the results.

Hi,
I just wanted to foillow up and close this thread. There is no problems using the 950 remote on with the ATI1505, it works like a champ. Just as a note, the AMP must be in the standby position.

I too have an ATI 1505 amp that I tried to run off the 950's 12 volt trigger. The main problem is the 950 trigger outputs only 100mA and the 1505 needs at least 350mA to engage the trigger. I currently use a remote controlled universal DC adaptor that I bought at Radio Shack to power the 1505 on and off. It is set to 12v @ 1000mA and works just fine. Not my preferred method but it beats doing it manually.

BTW, if anyone knows how to build an external circuit to amplify the output of the 950 trigger I'd be interested in trying it.

That's great, but how did you wire the 950 and the ATI amp up for it to trigger the ON/OFF cycle?

Thanks!

Reguarding the second paragraph of the first post in this thread, I was unaware that the Outlaw 950 has been discontinued. When did this happen? What replaces it? Thanks, Reed

He may be referring to the Outlaw 750 (their first product, a 5x165W amp), which was discontinued about two and a half years ago. The 950 is not discontinued.

Dan,

Unfortunetly, I still have to turn the 950 and the ATI 1500 on with seperate remotes. The Radio Shack switch came with an RF remote. A 12v DC converter is plugged into the switch and connected to the RS232 port on the back of the ATI. I use the 950 remote to turn on the 950 and the RS RF remote to turn on the ATI. Kind of a pain but I don't seem to have any other choice.
