Is it 2nd zone bleed through? - 02/24/04 07:38 PM

I noticed the other day that when I had the 950 set to an empty input (in order to adjust the speaker levels) I could hear very faint tuner programming coming through the front mains. My 2nd zone is "on" and the 2nd zone input is the tuner. I haven't played with turning off the 2nd zone yet but I was just wondering if this is something noted before or expected?

Do you have unshielded cable runs and happen to live near a radio tower? If this is the case, you might be getting some RF interference. This is certainly more likely than getting any bleed from the 2nd zone as I've never seen anybody post that problem on this forum.

Edit: Unferth, I think you're right. It's more about the shield than the length. Though longer lengths of unshielded cable can get nasty.

I had this problem, I heard a radio station from my center speaker... it turned out that the interconnect that was going to my center was the only one that wasn't shielded... So, after I replaced it the center sounded perfect, only playing what I'd selected

For the center speaker I'd used a diy silver interconnect that was Chris Van H. (don't remember how to spell his last name) design.. it was just 2 silver wires wrapped parallel to each other and only about 10" long.... so... length may not matter all that much if they're unshielded...
