The worst 950-7100 Problem - 02/10/04 06:33 PM

Well I’m officially a member of the Outlaw family. I received my 950/7100 today and have a serious problem. I’m in the process of moving and can’t hook it up for at least another week and a half I took them out of the boxes, looked at them, stroked them, almost hugged them……..then I packed them back up and went to get a tissue.....

On a more serious note. I can’t believe how well these components are made. The 950 feels really solid and the 7100 surprised me with its 51 Lbs’. I read that the 770 was a real chunk but its little brother is no slouch either!! I just wish I didn’t have to wait so long to hook everything up. I can really relate to the “Chomping at the bit” post from a little while ago. I guess the extended wait will just make the music that much sweeter.

Any ideas on how to get through the next week and a half. As if moving wasn’t enough stress...........

Moving... *shudder* Oh, man, I feel your pain...

When you get it all set up and situated, you'll love it. We moved last month, and over the weekend (in between working and some unpacking) I watched Gladiator and Two Towers EE -- great stuff.

Moving? MOVING!!! HA! I laugh in the face of your moving ordeal!!! Say "Hello" to my lille' fren - REMODELING!

The wife wanted to remodel (sniffle, sniffle). We started in early January. They tell me they should be comlete by the end of June. I have no kitchen, no living room, no computer room, no front room - I have battled valiantly, and have maintained dominion over 3/4 of the HT - the rear surround are temporarily out of order, but the changes in there will be minimal. But still an ordeal to say the least!

However, the wife okayed in December the 950, the 770 and a Denon 5900. What can I say?

Mike

I agree, remodelling is the worst! Three years ago we had a 24'X 24' addition put on, what a nightmare. DUST, I mean drywall DUST everywhere, (well not on my components, some things are sacred). Forget about HT or music listening, to quote the Grinch: "... the noise, noise, noise!"

We are having an addition as well put in downstairs, but the rest of the house is being totally redone as well. Dust, paint smell, the works. I am personally directing the work in the HT, though. We thoroughly cover it during the day when the work in the other areas of the house are ongoing. When it comes time to do the HT (floor being redone, a new central air and heater for the HT room and painting and cabinetry work), we will have to move all to the next room - that will be a nightmare. But, I am playing too much the Pope Julius to my wife's Michaelangelo during the painting of the Sistine Chapel:

"Buonarotti! When will you make an end to it?

When it is finished!"

Thanks for the moral support!

Mike
