minor quirks?

minor quirks? - 01/05/04 08:11 AM

I've had my 950 for 30 days now and have noticed a few things that seem to happen once or twice. One time it failed to play a CD from my DVD player. It just wouldn't decode the bitstream. I popped in a few different disks and then it just started working. The other night while watching a movie the unit powered down by itself. And a few times the subwoofer output was not outputting a signle and my sub shut off.
Has anyone experienced any little quirks like this?
Over all I think the 950 is a great little preamp.
Thanks
Cheers and Happy New Year
Joe

I would call Outlaw directly, and they will take care of you if there is something actually wrong with your 950.

I am not quite sure what happened with the CD (you should keep an eye on this to see if it happens again). As for powering down, is it possible that the sleep timer was inadvertently turned on? Feel free to give me a call if you would like to discuss any of these possibilities further.

Best Regards,

Scott

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep an eye on things and try to document the conditions, if anything else pops up.

The thing that happened to me was, we were listening to music via the tuner, and the sound became VERY faint and the unit powered itself off. STRANGE.... Turned it back on and it was good to go

Could you have experienced a power brown-out, Rayban? Lessening voltage which finally triggered protection circuits in the 950 and turned the system off.
