What makes the volume control act screwy?

What makes the volume control act screwy? - 12/10/03 01:58 PM

My 950 has just started exhibiting a minor but odd anomaly.

The volume knob on the unit doesn't work in a linear fashion. Sometimes it skips 2-3 units, sometimes a couple clicks don't change the value at all. And sometimes it works fine. Works great all the time with the remote.

I did a system reset (behind the volume knob) but this didn't seem to change it.

Any ideas out there?

Your 950 got a 1050 volume knob!

This was a 1050 issue for some but this is the first I've heard about it on a 950. There never was a fix, besides patience, to fix the issue with the 1050's.

I suppose it COULD be something like a bad encoder on the knob.

I am sure you tried this, but I will suggest it anyway. Had the same behavior on my 950. Did the reset and new batteries. Worked fine after that.

Good luck.

I second the new batteries idea.

I don't actually own a 950, but I'm missing the place where the volume knob would need some sort of batteries. Help?

Charlie,

The batteries have nothing to do with the volume knob.

It's a secret thing between 950 owners only...sorry.

Well, my psychiatrist and Soundhound seem to be in agreement.

Maybe that IS what's going on.

I'll try to poke a paperclip in the little hole and do a reset. After that, I'll try something on the 950...
