DVD vs 950 controls - 10/26/03 06:42 PM

I recently purchased the Pioneer 563A universal DVD player and when setting it up noticed that is has channel trim, large vs small speaker adjustments, etc. I already have the 950 configured for my speakers size, level and distance. Do I need to do this again for the DVD player. In other words when I play a movie, which piece of equipment is driving the bus?
By the way, the Pioneer looks and sounds too good for a $175 piece of equipment that plays all formats. My drreams have been answered.

The DVD player's settings are for the analog outputs only (DVD-Audio and SACD, in the 563's case) -- they don't apply to the digital output. With the 950, you are probably best off leaving all of the speakers set to large and the sub on, all the channel trims flat, and let the 950's analog bass management handle DVD-A and SACD.

The things I've read online seem to indicate that the 563's a remarkable bargain and a pretty darned respectable universal player.
