Balanced or Unbalanced ??? - 12/27/07 11:15 PM

Hey outlaws: just got my 7500 up and running at X-mas with the 990. I have the unbalanced outlaw cables now and they sound awesome no hum at all. What will I get if I swich to the balanced outlaw cables??? Will it be mostly a cleaner sound with less distortation? Will it mean a higher gain in volume? Thanks Tom Happy new year!

Over a short distance, all you are likely to get is about 3dB more gain (so 3dB louder at the same volume). Over long distances or in very interference-prone environments (like the recording studios for which balanced connections were created), balanced connections can reject hum induced by interference.

No need for balanced unless you use long runs.
