Since the happy goobers at Bust Buy cover the SACD "Stereo or
Multi-Channel' stickers with their price tags, can someone tell me if
there is anything in the labeling, numbering or other semi-hidden
symbols that will tell me if a given SACD is Stereo or Multi-Channel.
Whether it is hybrid or not doesn't matter to me.

Dan,

Isn't there some indication on the back that says something like "SACD Stereo" or SACD Multi-channel"?

Best,
Sanjay

There is a sticker that says 'Multichannel Hybrid'. I buy only those, as they contain both the 'Redbook CD version', which can be played on any CD player, and the multichannel version.

All of Chesky records SACD titles are hybrid

Media Play has a good selection of SACD hybrid MC, DTS-CD, and DVD-A.

A recording company called Heads Up is in partnership with Telarc. They sell direct and link to Telarc's site where there is good info on SACD and DVD-A.

Again, no matter where you buy SACD, look for the grey and white 'Hybrid Multichannel' sticker. Two discs for the price of one.

You might want to try looking up the titles online. Here's a great site for Hi-Res info that has links to all of the labels that produce SACD or DVD-A.

www.highfidelityreview.com

On a side note, I have a similiar issue with my video rental place placing labels directly over the movie summaries on the back of DVD cases. I guess I should look ahead too.
