I am building my libray of DVD-A. Recommendations welcomed. Here is my "good stuff" list so far:
Blue Man Group
Aaron Neville Believe
Ton Koopman
Carmina Burana
Dvorak 9th
Buena Vista Social Club
Count Basie Swings
Dave Grusin West side Story DTS
Santana Abraxas DTS

Alan Parsons Air

Here's my "not so happy with" list:
Corrs Blue
Weather Report Tribute
Dubliners

Any suggestions on good stuff?

Can you explain your "not so happy" evaluation? A couple of discs I would like to have are on that list. Is it content, mastering or something else.
Thanks

Different reasons for different things:

Corrs and Philips: Content mainly -- but nothing about them really excited me. Sort of the "worst" of reeleases by these folks, IMHO. Although mastering on Corrs is good.
Weather Report : Underwhelming all around
Dubliners: Shoulda bought the cheaper CD

Anything I need to add to my "good stuff" list?

Folks,

When reviewing classical titles, can you please include the orchestra, conductor, and label? For instance, "Carmina Burana" has probably been recorded six billion zillion times on CD ... an orchestra, conductor, and label really helps narrow down the specifics of what kind of recording this is.

The 3 classical DVD-A titles I mentioned (no CD's on my list) are all on Teldec.

If you're into metal, Queensryche's 'Empire' is out on DVD-A with a pretty nice multi-channel mix.

Best,
Sanjay

Some of My favorites that I didn't see on there....

Phillip Galss-Koyaanasquasi
Beethoven The Complete Symphonies-Daniel Baremboim Conducting
Pat Metheny Group-Imaginary Day

And regardless of what anyone says, I like the 1812 Ovature released by Telarc. (Cant remember the year).

I'll list what I have and like...
America-Homecoming...nice MC mix play this one a lot.
Fleetwood Mac-Rumours-This is a must have for FM fans. Great MC and stereo mix.
Natalie Merchant-Tigerlilly-This one is ok but I don't play as much.
Barenaked Ladies-Maroon- Nice playful MC mix with very good bass impact.
Doobie Brothers-Captain and Me-Great MC mix of a great record. Must have for fans.
Crowded House-S/T-I am a CH freak so I had to have this. I prefer the stereo mix.
Foreigner-S/T-I like this MC mix. Strange thing about this is I like the non hits on this better than the 2 or 3 hits. Maybe I was just burned out on "Cold As Ice" but "starrider" and "the damage is done" alone are worth the price of admission.

My setup....Aragon Soundstage using 6 channel input- NHT VT2 mains, NHT VS2a center high passed to Atlantic Tech 262pbm sub, NHT VT1.2 rears, Sherbourn 5/1500a biamps the mains, one for the center, B&K St1400 amp drives the rears. Source is Onkyo DV-SP800.

try steve stevens dvda-i don't own it(I will when I get a dvda player)-steve is the former guitarist for billy idol, but this album is spanish flamenco influenced. He is a great guitarist and this album did get a good review somwhere(can't remember).dvdplanet is the only place i know of with a large selection of dvda's.There is also a donovan album on dvda that I am interested in-donovan is truly one of the most underated artists,if you like folk/rock type music(check out his non dvda 2cd remastered set).
