Hey All - Some time back I had a receiver that had an option - at the press of a button on the remote - to play JUST the Front L & R channels, plus the Center channel, and NOT also playing any other channels (as in a 5.1, 7.1,etc system). I listen to music WAAAAAAY more than I watch movies. When I listen to music I usually listen in 7.1. Sometimes, however,I DO listen in Stereo. When I was able to engage the Center along with the two front channels, it gave it a "wall of sound" that I really enjoyed. Along with the Model 976, I have the Model 5000 amp, and all Definitive Technology speakers, and an SVS sub, in a 7.1 system. Without having to literally disconnect my other speakers, or minimizing their output in the settings menu, is their a simple way to play the Front L & R and the Center, without having any output from any of the other channels? I'm not aware of a remote command that would do as you say. The minimum level of effort to do what you are asking is to disable the side and rear speakers in the speaker config menu (set them to "none" instead of large or small). I think you know this but I'll mention for completeness that there is a "one touch" button on the remote to switch to just stereo, but it does not include the center channel.
