When in high-end malls and shopping districts, or flipping through high-end publications, I often notice Bang & Olufsen stores/products. Although their products have obectively very high prices (neglecting for the moment value, if any, for that high price), I believe their products have interesting and aesthetically pleasing contemporary designs (although I prefer industrial designs given my home decor). Furthermore, although I am not likely to ever buy these products (for the price/design reasons noted above), I am still curious as to what the Outlaws generally think about Bang & Olufsen products from both a value and audiophile perspective.

I am still relatively new to the audiophile world, and although I can appreciate if something sounds really good versus bad, I really do not have any ability to make fine distinctions between two sources separated between time and space as many of the Outlaws seem to be able to do. In fact, I bet many of you have formed strong opinions about Bang and Olufsen based on your exposure to their products in malls/stores (or possibly through purchases) too, even if you have never expressed those opinions publically before. Therefore, since I am simply curious about Bang & Olufsen, I look forward to hearing the Outlaws' thoughts.

Ed

I have not really had ay meaningful exposure to B&O equipment. They do have some really neat designs.

The one technology they developed that seems to have caused quite a stir in the industry is with their ICE power modules. There are quite a few amplifier makers using these modules in their digital amps.

I think the appearance is beautiful and elegant. Once past that, there is much better equipment available for the amount of money. You can get equal performance cheaper or better performance for the same $.

well built and serviceable (so I hear) and some cutting edge designs that work (tangential armed turntables...that's for playing records for you youngsters...like big CDs... laugh )...

I ran my AR turntable with a B&O cartridge back toward the end of the 2nd millennium. It sounded fine until I replaced it with a Shure if memory serves.

This might not be useful information though.
