Thanks

DVI is a digital video interface that may end up used on HDTV. It was developed purely for video applications (flat panel LCD computer monitors, for example). Here is a good info page on DVI (and a definition from Webopedia and the home page for Digital Display Working Group ).

FireWire is also called IEEE 1394 (see the 1394 Trade Association ) that has been around longer than DVI but was originally developed to provide a high-bandwidth peripheral interface for PC's (similar to USB, although with more bandwidth). It is also a contender for the role of video interface between sources (HDTV set top box, DVD player, ...) and HD displays.
