Going to be confined upstairs away from my system for about 3 months while on some rough meds. Looking for input on Headphones, Headphone Amps (or subs), and a relatively inexpensive SACD source that I can use on night stand or small table and listen to in bed. Any thoughts appreciated. Love Jazz, Blues, Accoustic, Folk, International and Classical as well as old R&R. Thanks for any suggestions. Don't want to sink a fortune in this as I am not sure how I will adapt to it will probably be back down in listening room as soon as possible.

I've looked at both Audio Advisor and HeadRoom in the past for headphones and headphone amps. I don't know much about SACD, but I suspect that some of Sony's entry-level single-disc players would be pretty affordable and easy to track down.

I think Sony's only entry-level SACD player at this point is a 5 disc changer that's around $200. Below that, there really isn't much besides the Pioneer 563A. If anybody knows of a decent SACD player under $200 please post. Ever since I got my Sony DVP-NS500V, I haven't seen anything....

As for headphones, I love my Grado SR-80 headphones. Probably one of the best audio investments I've made for under $100.

Shows how closely I watch Sony's product line, I guess... So the cheapest way to get into SACD with a new player looks to be either the Pioneer DV-563A universal player (~$150) or the Philips DVD-795SA DVD/SACD player ($130), and of the two I would tend to put more faith in the Pioneer. Toshiba has a changer that will do SACD (SD6915, ~$180), as does Sony (NC685, ~$210).

I wonder if any used SACD players might offer a headphone jack (probably not as good quality as a headphone amp, but cheaper).
