Anyone have any info on the scheduled release date of the 997?

Is it still on track for the end of Dec or Jan 09?

I know it was scheduled to be released just after the Sherwood 972 Receiver...is that one on time?

Thanks

I've seen a few posts suggesting that the R-972 is expected to arrive around late January 09, which would put the 997 behind that somewhere.

Question is how far behind. I hope not to long as I am itching to step it up now. I am sure I am not alone on this one. Last time around I remember that Scott or someone at Outlaw took great pleasure torturing everyone here by posting a pic of a giant cardboard box with their logo on it. Saying hey all look over here bet you wish you had one of these sitting in your living room. Actually that was a pretty good one on their part. I probably would have done something similar had I been in their position.

I don't think we know. When the 997 was first mentioned, with a December/January timeframe as the earliest arrival date, the R-972 was considered a possibility for November I think - so maybe March '09? It's all still guesswork, though.

The 990's box picture was shortly before the announcement, when we had no idea it was even in development and right about the time they loaded the first batch of production units onto a freighter in Korea. That was a pretty slick one...

I was talking to Scott this pass week. If he does know anything he's not talking. His lips are as tight as my wifes wallet. mad
He told me that as soon as he hears anything it will be posted on this forum.
From our small conversation I do not think that the 997 is in production. So for all intents and purposes it is still on the drawing board. Not literally but I do not think we will hear anything this month and possibly not until the end of next. frown
I been anxious to pull the trigger also after the Integra 9.9 demonstration, but this Outlaw has some loyalty. cool

I think we can make this a bit clearer. As we wrote in our original announcement, the 997 is based upon the Newcastle 972 platform. They will not be launched simultaneously. (By the way, this is a slight advantage. Before we launched our 990, we isolated and identified certain minor bugs in the P-965 (Newcastle's sister product) software and were able to correct them for our introduction).

Therefore, please keep monitoring what happens at Newcastle, because nothing can happen with us before they have finalized all of their software and firmware.

Thanks Peter.

As has been written elsewhere, the S/N rep has stated that he expects the S/N 972 to be on the market in late January. It is anyone's guess how long after that the 997 would take to move to production.

In case anyone didn't get the email, they're looking to be shipping in the 1st quarter of '09. I can wait another 3 months!

Working out all the bugs will make everyone happier in the long run. I would expect to wait up to 3 months after S/Ns release. I am in noooo hurry to get smacked down by the wife again.

True. Keep in mind, March is the end of the first quarter of 2009. Two months after the anticipated launch of the S/N 972. I would expect, as Peter noted, that most of the major bugs would be worked out by then. Some may call that ignorance, others optimism. Either way, there may be some bugs, but I can work around them. My Harmony remote allows for different set-ups that would allow me to work around the 997 if I had to. My wife would be happier if we just used the speakers from the TV anyway. So I could set-up a "Watch TV" function for her and one for me that included the 997 if I needed to. I've been waiting for a long time to upgrade my system, so I'm willing to accept a few bumps to get to where I'm going.
