Hello,
I have an SMS-1 that I use to eq my eD A7-900 sub. However, is it possible to use the mic to do all of my test tone calibrations on all of the other channels? I have a phantom power supply that I use to calibrate my HTPC using Vista Room Adjustment, but I was wondering if there was some sort of on screen program that would register the test tones db's on the screen. I know the Beringer mic is 1000 times more accurate than my handheld Rat Shack sound meter.

Thanks,
Dan

There is PC-based software that will let you take measurements like that via a microphone connected to a sound card. RoomEQ Wizard is the example that immediately comes to mind (largely because it is free and reasonably powerful, and thus widely used), but there are others. The problem that you might run into is getting an accurate microphone calibration file for the SMS-1's mic. Most RoomEQ Wizard users are using sound meters like the Radio Shack models, so there's easy access to files for those, but I don't know how readily-available the SMS-1's mic file would be...

Thanks gonk. I will give it a try and test it against the Radio Shack meter I have.

Thanks again,
Dan

Let us know how this goes, I am getting ready to setup speakers/sub in my new house and want to spend the time to get everything right.

I will do! There is an ECM8000 calibration adjustment file, so I am hoping to get better accuracy than using my Radio Shack SPL meter.
