Consider this a dumb noob question please. I’m still in the planning stages of my first “real” AV system. Here’s what I got down on my spreadsheet:

Outlaw 990/7125 combo
B&W 603S3
B&W LCR600

Due to my odd room shape, I won’t be adding surround speakers any time soon (if ever). Here’s my question, I’d like to add an SVS cylinder sub 20-39, do I need the powered model 20-39pci or can the 7125 also drive a non-powered model 20-39cs?

Thanks a bunch.

The 7125 can provide 190W into a 4ohm load. That's not too shabby. If you dig through SVS's FAQ, you'll find that they used the cylinder design originally in part because it allowed for a more efficient design (greater internal volume of a tall sub meant less power needed to achieve low frequencies), so that 190W may be a good fit. You could e-mail SVS and ask them how much power they recommend for driving one of the passive cylinder subs. If something around 200W is a comfortable level for driving the 20-39CS, then you could simply connect the 990's subwoofer output to one of the unused channels of the 7125 and let that channel drive the sub.

Thanks gonk. I was hoping to be able to do that because this future 7125 will still have 4 unused channels leftover. Will contact SVS and consult their opinion.

Daisyhead:

Once you hear from SVS, can you please post what they have to say? Am interested in the answer also.
