I was listening to Diana Krall\'s Love Scenes (DTS) this evening. At about 2:06 into track 5 (They Can’t Take That Away from Me), I hear a "plink" in the surrounds.

Huh?

I repositioned the CD a couple of times, and yes, definitely a "plink" in the surrounds. The center and front were ok.

I was playing the CD in a Panasonic RP-82 DVD player using an optical connection to the 990. I'm using the DVD input on the 990 to play the audio leaving my RPTV switched off. The 990 correctly detects the DTS audio stream.

Visual inspection of the disc surface doesn't show any defects.

Is anyone else able to confirm this anomaly?

I don't have this disc, but are you sure that it's not just part of the recording? Do you have a second CD player that you can play it from? Or use a friends system to see if it's still there, and maybe just not noticed?
Not much help, but I thought I'd throw that out there...

I've confirmed that this is either a defect in the recording or a defect on my copy of the disc.

I did this by ripping the DTS track, downmixing to stereo and listening to the section on the PC speakers.

It's probably in the recording - I'd expect a defect in just your copy to be more significant than that.
