Help! I can't seem to insert a Toslingk cable into any of the optical jacks on the 990, or the one on my LG LST-3410A. The plug soes not go in far enough to lock in place, and I dont want to force it. I have the long flat of the plag adjacent to the long side of the jack. Am I doing something wrong, or is Toslink not the right connector for these optical jacks?

It sounds like you've got the right cable and it's lined up right. Have you tried more than one cable or tried the other end of the cable in a different device to see if the raised ridge on the plug is a problem?

I didn't have any issues with several different brands of TOSlink cable on my 990. I suspect it's likely the cable or you're just being to gentle with it. 8-)

Cheers,

I don't want this to sound like I'm being an a** hole but have you taken the protective cover off the end of the cable? Someone new may not know that one is there. Just trying to help smile

OR...

Some Toslink cables come with an adaptor over them for smaller jacks on portable players? Maybe you forgot to take that off? It happens to the best of us!

What brand of optical cable do you have?

I had purchased a Monster cable Optical (quite the rip off compared to the Outlaw Optical cable) and for that one cable I have to push really hard to lock it into place. My other optical cables (outlaw) work fine. When I comparred the length on the connector for the Outlaw and the monster, they were the same.

Good Luck

Lasher,
You are not one! The protective cover is clear plastic, and as this is an optical interface, I thought what I was seeing was the end o9f the fiber optic. Thank you all for responding.

I did this also!! I was setting up my Denon AVR to use the optical output for the Dish HD receiver, and had the same problem. There were no directions. I felt really stupid laugh
