Actually it was gonk's answer to my electrostatic headphone question that led me to this idea.....Maybe someone else will find it useful.

I'll use zone 2 for headphone (notably analog audio only and that's OK) to feed small amp that powers STAX phones. I have a dishnetwork receiver in basement with optical out. I'll feed an optical out and S-video from it into VIDEO-2 of 990. Will use secondary video monitor(have an old SONY pro monitor) and phones. That way grandson and I can each have our own. (works for Mrs nfaguys also-she's happy...you know home shopping etc.) second dish rcvr in basement works from living room because of RF dish remote, Happy camper here smile smile laugh

Now a question about remotes: Do the remotes discussed here MX-700 and above have RF capability? If so how about secondary receivers that would interface with other equipment...and also with 990? confused

No RF on 700, you have to jump to the MX-800.

Don't know about your second question.

I think barnabas meant was no RF on the MX-700.. But there is a package deal for a MX-800 with a second "buddy" remote.. Which would be used in another room..

If you're wanting to control devices from a different room and you're running wires between the two spaces anyway, an alternative to an RF remote would be to do an IR sensor and a signal wire running back to the equipment rack. Either connecting directly to the 990's IR input or using little stick-on IR emitters at the 990 and the other devices (DishNetwork receiver) so you can use a basic remote in the second space (pick up an MX-500 for $90 or so, for example). Just a thought...
