Before we get to the news about Outlaw products, it is important that we express our thanks to all the Outlaws who have donated to our fundraising campaign for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. As mentioned in the Announcements section of the Saloon, our first effort has totally exhausted our supply of S-Video cables and as a result the S-Video cable/Model 1070 drawing has been closed. However, we will still collect donations for Save The Children through Monday, September 12th, and will have a drawing for one RR 2150 retro receiver for each 150 donations received, the winners of the receivers will be notified next week. Thanks again for showing the incredibly kind heart that is present in the Outlaw community.

Putting the serious news of the past week or so behind us, it is now time to return to normal business with the new product news we have been promising. With Labor Day having come and gone, and school starting again, some say that summer is unofficially over. However, according to the Outlaw’s calendar there are still three more weeks of “official” summer. Thus, in keeping with this summer’s theme, the “Heat is STILL on!” as we continue our RED HOT summer promotions and product news. Here goes!

Model 1070 Department

As you read this we have sent “order invitation” letters to most of those on the Model 1070 reservation list. Since we were able to load in a larger initial shipment of the Model 1070 than was possible for the Model 990, we hope to be able to work completely through the list within the next week or so. If you are in the market for a new AV Receiver that is both powerful and feature packed, you need look no further than the Model 1070. Place a reservation now and you should have your unit within the next ten days.

Our original receiver, the Model 1050, set a new benchmark for value in AV receivers. The Model 1070, with its 7x65 watt amplifier carries an ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN at 8 ohms spec from 20 Hz to 20kHz at <0.08%THD, giving it the power to reclaim the reins for Outlaw as the best receiver value available.

Beyond its robust power specifications, the Model 1070’s long list of features is unmatched by anything in its price class – or beyond. In addition to all the latest digital surround modes, the Model 1070 features two-input DVI switching, digital four-way crossover or analog bass management for the “direct” inputs used with today’s DVD-Audio or SACD players or tomorrow’s high definition optical players, Lip Sync delay up to 200 mS, an RS-232 port for software upgradeability, and an extensive range of analog and digital audio inputs and outputs. Video cross-conversion takes incoming composite or S-Video signals from your legacy sources and converts them to component video for a single set of connections to your video display. Of course, the on-screen menus are visible on the cross-converted component outputs. There’s much more than space here permits, so visit the Model 1070 section of our new web site to view images, see the complete specs or download the Owner’s Manual.

For those who rely on reviews before making a purchase, we have a number of Model 1070 units out for review and will post them, or links to them, as soon as they are released to us. In addition, reports on the Model 1070 from your fellow Outlaws are beginning to appear in the Model 1070 section of the Outlaw Saloon. Check them out in the Saloon, where there are always spirited discussions about all things Outlaw.

Model 7125 News

First introduced last month, the Model 7125 is now shipping from stock. This compact, 7x125 watt 8 ohms, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, <0.08%THD, ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN powerhouse is the perfect companion for the Model 990 in moderate sized systems, or an upgrade to any existing small to moderate room system.

The Model 7125 has already proven itself to be a superb performer. If you are looking for a modestly priced, multi-channel amplifier with great looks and even better performance, you need look no further than the Model 7125.

Model 755/Model 770 News

For larger rooms or more power-hungry speaker systems, we are continuing the promotion for the remaining supply of our 200 watts per channel amplifiers. As mentioned last month, this is a “When they’re gone, they’re REALLY gone” event, and we are down to small quantities of both units. As they might say in a Saloon, this is truly a “last call”. Once these beauties are gone, they will be replaced with new models with balanced inputs and updated appearance. However, for systems with traditional output/input links between your processor and amplifier, this promotion is probably the best offer you will ever see for Made in the USA amplifiers with the power, reliability and sonic performance of the Model 755 and Model 770

The 5x200 wpc Model 755 is now $1,149. This $150 reduction puts the price at least $350 to $400 less than what its replacement will cost. The Model 990/Model 755 combo is now $2,148, a $250 reduction.

The 7x200 wpc Model 770 is now $1,599. This $200 reduction puts the price at least $400 less than what its replacement will cost. The Model 990/Model 770 combo is now $2,498, also an incredible $400 less than the original pricing.

Model 2200 News

That’s right, a new model number for Outlaw amplifiers. While we are in an “out with the old, in with the new” mode, we have news this month for those with system requirements or a personal preference for single channel amplifiers. Our first entry in this space, the Model 200 M-Block amplifier, is out of stock and discontinued. Identical in power and performance, the Model 2200 adds balanced input capability through an XLR type connector {Outlaw PCB, Pure Copper Balanced, cables now available on our web site }to the 200 watt power output 8 ohms, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, <0.05%THD of the Model 200.

The Model 2200 also retains the slim-size form factor of its predecessor, with an updated front panel design that matches the new industrial design of both the Model 990 and Model 1070. That makes it a perfect companion for the Model 990 or for other applications where balanced connections are used.

For complete information on The Model 2200, including complete specs, pictures and the Owner’s Manual click over to the Model 2200 section of our newly updated web site. Available for immediate shipment, the Model 2200 is priced at $325, an increase of only $25 above the Model 200.

Current Product News

As noted at the outset of this Newsletter, the Model 1070 is now shipping to those on the reservation list, and we expect to be shipping it from stock within two weeks. All other Outlaw products, including the Model 990 processor, the Model 775, Model 770 and now the Model 2200 amplifiers, both the LFM-1 and LFM-2 subwoofers and all of our current cable models are available for immediate shipment. For those who are not familiar with some of our newer products, such as the Model 1070, Model 7125 and the LFM-2, we encourage you to visit our web site. If you have not visited our home page in the past few weeks, it is totally re-done and contains a great deal of updated product images, specifications and the Owner’s Manuals for all of our products.

Press coverage of our products also continues, as does the Outlaw’s tradition of award winning products. The latest addition to the roster of awards on our shelf is an “Editor’s Choice Gold Award” from Ultimate AV for the Model 990. You can read about it here , and when you see that the Platinum Award winner costs eight times more than the Model 990, we are even more honored to receive the award. Our thanks to the editors of Ultimate AV!

Future News

No, this isn’t the section where we get out or crystal ball, but we do want to leave you with a few notes about what we’ll be up to in the months ahead:

o As mentioned in the Katrina Relief Update posted in the Saloon, the RR 2150 is scheduled for production very shortly. As soon as we have confirmation that the first production run has passed inspection at the factory and is on the water we’ll open a reservation list. If you appreciate the pleasure of true stereo music but want it in a system that combines the latest technology with the specs of a traditional two-channel receiver you are well advised to wait for the RR 2150. Beyond great sound, it sports a retro-modern design that is unlike anything else in the market. There is a reason we’ll be calling the RR 2150 “The Last Great Stereo Receiver”™.
o We expect the start-up of production on one or both of our new high-power amplifiers with balanced inputs and new industrial design later this month. There will be further news about them in our next newsletter, perhaps in conjunction with the opening of the reservation list for the RR 2150.
o Finally, we’ll tempt you by saying that in addition to the news we’ve been bringing you throughout this Red Hot Summer about new products and those previously announced, we will have two more new products announcements as early as November with delivery dates well in time to make it on your holiday wish lists. At this time all we will say is that these two new products will underscore our reputation for providing the very best values in high performance home theater more than anything Outlaw has ever done. They are designed by and for us and will not be available from any other company. Stay tuned!

That wraps it up for now. Once again, our thanks for the outstanding generosity extended towards our Katrina relief fundraising efforts, and we’ll be back to you again towards the end of September.

Regards

The Outlaws
