I have a Scientific Atlanta 3100HD cable box which has digital (only available on digital stations) and analog (all stations) sound output. The problem is that the 950 does not autosense the audio signal. This causes me to change the audio input on the 950 if I'm watching a digital station and back to another source to get sound from an analog station.

Anyone have a solution? I would expect others have a similar problem.

I could use my old Denon receiver to connect the analog and digital sound to the same source and the receiver would autodetect and switch to the digital signal when present.

Thank you.

Oh, yeah, common problem. One solution is to check into a Pace box in place of the SA box. Pace's boxes will create a PCM digital audio signal for analog-only stations. The DC-510 and DC-511 are the basic digital cable boxes, but there is also a box that I believe is equivalent to the 3100HD (the DC-550?). Time Warner in Memphis stocks both, but it's extremely difficult to track down the Pace boxes. Check out this thread for some more info.

I'm not sure if it's due to capabilities of my Motorola DCT5100 cable box or not but I don't have the problem you describe. Using only an SPDIF cable connection my 950 will correctly sense the input being fed as either a Dolby Digital or PCM source. All my channels below 100 are analog and thus PCM (100-900 are DD).

This is not the usual audio auto-switching between separate analog and digital connections. All 950 owners know that is a feature missing on the 950.
