How's the bass management on the 950? Would I need the ICBM? Would adding it help the 950/775 combo? Also, has anyone tried hooking this up to Ed Frias DIY speakers from AudioReview.com? I'm thinking of building them but I'm not sure they could handle that beast.

I would say that you'd only need an ICBM if you wanted full bass management of DVD-Audio or SACD. The 950's bass management on the 5.1 analog in consists of an analog 80Hz bypass. The bass management for all other inputs is quite flexible, and probably sufficient.

Plus, if I'm not mistaken, if you tried to use an ICBM *after* the 950 before the power amp(s), you'd still get the "double bass" problem. The ICBM would have to be in between the SACD/DVD-A player and the 950, but even then it could get real messy in terms of that re-direction... (Potentially cascaded filters.)

Well That's what I'm looking to fix. My recomended xo point is about 60hz for my speakers. So how could I achieve this while listening to DVD-Audio or SACD? Denon sells the DVM-4800 has some sort of bass management. Would it correct the 80Hz xo?

To be honest, I don't really think you'd notice all that much difference between 60 Hz and 80 Hz crossovers (just using the 950).

I currently have a Sony TA-E9000ES where I can also choose any crossover for any speaker. My mains are flat (or "close enough") to 30 Hz. I've tried 60 and 80 and couldn't hear a difference. Just left it at 80 Hz, for no other simple reasons than that is what the THX spec is, and that's what I also use on my center and rears.

So, even if you put the ICBM in between the SACD/DVD-A player and 950, and *tried* to crossover at 60 Hz on the mains, the 950 itself would still redirect the info from 60 to 80 Hz to the sub.
