Just started hooking up my 950/770 system. I am upgrading from a Yamaha HTR receiver which did something I'm not sure the 950 does. My digital cable has both analog outputs and a digital coax output. I am feeding the 950 with both types because the cable box puts out both an analog and a digital signal when it is playing a digital channel (higher than channel 72 in my case) but an analog only signal for lower (non digital) channels. The Yamaha unit could be set to automatically select the higher (digital) of the two inputs depending on what was being sent. Does the 950 offer this type of automatic selection based on the type of signal being fed to it?

I'm afraid that it does not do that. I have my digital cable box hooked up the same way, but I typically just leave it in analog. I've considered cooking up a pair of macros to switch to and from that digital input, but haven't ever done it.
