Hi All:

I just bought an ultra-cool remote from Radio Shack that is sort of like a touch screen remote. I'm wondering if there is a 'universal' remote code for the 1050? If not, I guess I'll use the code search feature to try and find one(not suprisingly, there are no pre-programmed codes for the 1050). BTW; I've had my 1050 for about 11 months now, and I have to admit- It's the best A/V-H/T product I've ever seen for anywhere close to it's price. Perfect, it's not. Bang for the buck? It blows away ANYTHING I auditioned until I got to receivers that cost appx. twice as much! I'll use the extra $500.00 I saved to buy CD's and DVD's.Thanks to all, and to all a good night.

Sounds like you picked up one of the Kameleon remotes. Remote Central recently wrote a review of it, although I haven't read through it yet. Interesting tidbit of the morning: your new remote was produced by the same company that produced the 1050's remote (the Catalyst 48 ). While there is about a 99% chance of there not being a pre-programmed code for the 1050 (it has UEI's latest code library, but previous libraries did not include the 1050), there are some alternatives. First, it does have some limited learning capability, although the memory is apparently pretty limited. Second, it is a JP1 capable remote, although unfortunately it appears to be a major operation to implement (jumper connector is not included), so that's not likely to actually help. Third, there was this interesting tidbit in the Remote Central review:

Quote:
By phoning a 1-800 number between 9AM and 5:30PM Eastern time, customer service representatives can help track down a possible upgraded code set and send that upgrade right to your remote control over the phone – simply hold the 15-2133 up to the speaker and it downloads. This is a valuable feature, particularly for users who may have lost their original remote, but in most cases simply increasing the learning memory could cut down on the need for phone support.

NBO,

Saw the remote at RS and couldn't resist. Have you learned the code for the 1050? Have you done any tweaking/customizing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

Finally called the remote 1-800 number. The Outlaw 1050 code is 1109, but the remote won't accept the code unless it is downloaded via telephone, which was quick and easy.

Beyond the Outlaw code, the extremely nice and helpful customer service rep asked for the brands of my other equipment so she could send me an e-mail list of specialized codes used to activate buttons on the remote that might not otherwise work. Won't have this list until Monday, but I'll post again if there is anything worth mentioning.

I'm really pleased with the remote, and several others where I work have also purchased one.

It sounds like the OEM has finally realized they can sell this remote as a Pronto killer if they tell the world their secrets. Their remotes have been reversed engineered by the online world, so why not make a buck by going public with it.

I posted the "extended function codes" sent by the remote folks on the 950 board. Look there if you're interested.

Actually, mine did not download from the phone, but I was able to put in manually with no problem.
