Hello to all you Outlaws!

I was just wondering what modes do you all use for listening to music. This may sound odd, but music in 2 channel stereo has more of a "stage" than listening to 3 channel (center speaker used).

What are your preferences?

Mark

I stick with 2-channel stereo for music -- it lets the music go where it wants to, without passing any of it over to the center. I think your impression of it having more of "stage" is pretty accurate, matches my experience as well.

I, also, am a 2-channel music listener. Tried several of the variations when I first got my 1050 and preferred the way 2-channel sounded the most.

I found that 2 channel sounded better to my ear. More natural soundstage and imaging. Also tried Stadium mode for Patriots defeat over the Steelers. Changed it back to surround real quick. Actualy got up from the game to check on the kids. Sounded like they were yelling at each other. It was the fans in the stands!

I think what the "3-stereo" mode on the 1050 basically does is engage ProLogic decoding, and folds the sourround channel back into the mains. What you'll notice with ProLogic is that any signal that's present on both the left and right channels gets yanked out and sent to the center. This is nice for dialog because it centers it over your TV, but I find the effect somewhat annoying for music.

I understand ProLogic II is a little better with this and even has a separate mode for music. I'm looking forward to trying it out on my 950.

Well I am probably going to try out the 7 channel stereo when the 950 gets here but I use DPLII now and it is pretty sweet.

BTW: I watch a lot of football. I think it is going to be a slaughter. I don't think the Pats will be able to get a blocked kick again or a punt return both of which while a part of the game were pretty lucky for the pats to get against the steelers. I think Steelers/Rams or Pats/Eagles would have made a good bowl but I doubt the pats will have another D-line day like they did against the steelers which was their best all season. They had it when it counted but they won't have 2 good+lucky games in a row.
