A friend gave me a set of JBL speakers hes no longer using and I want to hook them up to my 950/755. They appear to be older theater speakers so Im wondering if they will work ok for home use. Here are all the specs I can find on the speakers, please let me know what kind of setup you would use if you had these speakers.

I have 4 JBL 8340's as my 2 fronts and 2 backs:

The sub is a JBL 4648 but I cant find any info on it but its dual 15inch.

I was gonna use the horn/driver as a center:

A 2380A - horn http://www.mia.dk/usr/mia/mia.nsf/links/0714BE3B6826B220C1256A170019D851/$file/2380a.p df
connected to

2445j - driver http://www.jblpro.com/pub/components/2445J.pdf

And a couple of frequncy deviders - 3160's (tops left corner in picture the bigger one)

Not even sure what they are for

Making some of these components work in a home environment will be very difficult. The 4" compression drivers and the associated horns are really made for very large spaces like a movie theater sized room. They will sound very overbearing and probably harsh in a home sized room.

I use horn theater speakers in my system, but they have 2" drivers and smaller exponential horns.

The "wedge" speakers are used in cinemas for surrounds, and would work pretty well in if you have a large room in your home. I use the smaller version of these myself for surrounds (8330).

You can always experiment with them, and if you like the sound, that is all that matters. You will probably be better served by some speakers made specifically for home use......unless you have lots of time and love to tinker.
